In 2024, we started a wonderful tradition — summing up the previous year by compiling a board game ranking of the titles most popular among Gallu Shop online store customers. This year, Gallu the Rooster decided to share the current trends with you and compile a TOP list based on 2025 results!
TOP board games or current board game trends from Gallu Shop online store
The ranking is based on the performance of the Gallu Shop online board game store. We analyzed which games sold best in 2025 and which ones our customers were most interested in.
And now we invite you to go straight to the TOP-10 board games ranking for 2025! Let’s start from the bottom, 10th place. But remember: this ranking is only our subjective opinion, and it’s up to you to decide which of these games is the best and deserves the most attention. We’ve simply collected the board games that were genuinely trending.
Let’s go!
10th place
Kicking off our TOP is the family board game for 1–5 players with card engine-building mechanics from the publisher “Igromag” — “Wyrmspan”.
In the game, you build your own dragon sanctuary. You start with three open locations — one in each cave: Crimson Cavern, Golden Grotto, and Amethyst Abyss. During play, you’ll open new locations, attract dragons to your sanctuary, activate powerful abilities, and earn the favor of the dragon guild.
9th place
Next in the ranking is a deep euro-strategy for 1–4 players with resource management and worker placement mechanics (where dice act as workers) — “The White Castle”.
Players take on the roles of leaders of lesser clans competing for position and future in the court of the White Heron. Clever and timely resource management and placing family members in Himeji Castle will be the key to victory!
8th place
A legendary family board game from the publisher “Lord of Boards”, suitable for literally everyone — the board game “Ticket to Ride: Europe”.
The gameplay of “Ticket to Ride: Europe” is quite simple and doesn’t require long rule study. Each player has several route cards visible only to them. Each card lists two cities that need to be connected by rail lines to score victory points. And that’s where the battle of minds, tactics, and psychology begins…
The Ticket to Ride series now includes numerous additional maps, expansions, and standalone games with this mechanic.
7th place
One of the best party association games, published by “Igromag”, rightfully in the top 50 best party board games on BoardGameGeek — the board game “Dixit”.
Each turn, one player becomes the “storyteller.” Their task is to give a clue for a chosen card so that some players guess it and some don’t. If everyone or no one guesses the storyteller’s card, they score zero points!
“Dixit” has numerous expansions and variations adding new artwork and mechanics. All games in the series are fully compatible with each other, allowing you to expand the experience endlessly.
6th place
A cooperative dungeon-crawler based on scenarios with deck-building mechanics for 1–4 players — “Keep the Heroes Out!”
This board game isn’t about endlessly killing monsters in corridors and collecting loot — it’s about defending your cozy dungeon from annoying hero-raiders who want to loot every chest. This unusual game was created and illustrated by Luís Brue in 2022. That same year it was nominated for “Best Cooperative Game” at the Golden Geek Awards and is confidently climbing toward the top 100 family board games on BoardGameGeek.
5th place
Settled comfortably in 5th place is the classic and universally known tile-laying game — “Carcassonne”.
From 2 to 5 players take on the roles of medieval feudal lords. You’ll develop the landscape, building roads, cities, monasteries, and fields around the famous French castle of Carcassonne. Place travelers, knights, monks, and farmers wisely to claim victory!
4th place
In 4th place sits a popular semi-cooperative board game with association mechanics and detective elements, complete with three expansions, from publisher IGAMES — “Mysterium + All Expansions”.
The owner of an ancient manor has invited a group of mediums to solve a mystery. Everyone who stayed overnight was haunted by strange dreams. Legend has it that a former resident was wrongfully executed for a murder he didn’t commit, and his restless spirit seeks peace by identifying the true killer. You have only seven days to unravel this tangled case using the ghost’s clues.
3rd place
An undeniable hit for 2–8 players about building a kingdom with hidden roles and bluffing — “Citadels”.
Players take on the roles of medieval feudal lords building a city. Each round, you choose a character with a unique ability, then construct districts, earning gold and victory points. Hidden roles, bluffing, and backstabbing make the game incredibly dynamic and fun!
2nd place
A family card board game where you cook authentic Ukrainian dishes from recipes across our homeland — “Borscht”.
Although borscht has been recognized as UNESCO heritage, every family and every home has its own taste and quirks. Green borscht, with meatballs, with dumplings and kvass, Odesa borscht, with smoked pear, and many other fascinating combinations. The game lets you compete in preparing borscht according to various recipes.
Plus, the box includes a real recipe book with instructions for twenty different borscht variations — and you’ll definitely want to try cooking them!
1st place
Claiming the triumphant first place is the undisputed hit of 2025 for groups complete with two expansions — “Munchkin + 2 expansions”.
“Munchkin” lets you dive into the world of role-playing games — but without boring rules or long texts. Just humor and fun! Put on Latex Armor, arm yourself with a Gentleman’s Cane, don’t forget to drink a Useful Nasty, and go — slice up a Legless Pony or a Beeflorig. But your friends aren’t sleeping. They’re just waiting for the chance to slip you a “pig” — another monster, a terrible curse, or to power up your monster at the last second when victory was in your grasp. Isn’t that fun?
Galu the Rooster recommends trying this humorous card game that parodies role-playing board games, complete with two expansions.
