International Tabletop Day is celebrated annually on the first Saturday of June. In 2025, this holiday falls on Saturday, June 7. It’s a fantastic opportunity for fans of board games to gather, play their favorite games, and try new ones.

History of the Holiday

International Tabletop Day is a relatively young holiday. It was first celebrated in 2013, initiated by Geek & Sundry through the efforts of Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton. The goal was to promote board games, reduce reliance on gadgets, and encourage face-to-face interaction.

Tabletop Day in April or June?

Recently, there has been confusion about the celebration date. Some believe the holiday should be observed on the last Saturday of April, while others are certain it falls on the first Saturday of June.

Galu the Rooster has the answer and will clear things up (though he’d happily celebrate in both April and June). In fact, International Tabletop Day was indeed held in late April until 2018, but starting in 2019, the organizers, likely for convenience, shifted the date to early June. This change is what caused the confusion around the celebration date.
