Description of the Board Game Wyrmspan
In "Wyrmspan," you build your own dragon sanctuary. You start with three open locations—one in each cave: the Crimson Cavern, the Golden Grotto, and the Amethyst Abyss. Throughout the game, you’ll unlock new locations, attract dragons to your sanctuary, activate powerful abilities, and earn the favor of the dragon guild.
How It Works
The game lasts 4 rounds, with players taking turns clockwise. On your turn, you choose one action from those available on your sanctuary board (personal player mat), move your dragonologist there, pay the required cost, and perform the action.
Available actions include:
- Excavation, which lets you play cards into caves.
- Enticement, allowing you to place dragons on the board.
- Exploring the Crimson Cavern, which activates specific abilities.
Different dragon types you can attract to your sanctuary have unique resource requirements and preferred caves. They yield varying victory points and effects. The key to victory lies in crafting the best combinations from available cards and timing their use perfectly.
Turns continue until players choose to pass, typically when someone runs out of coins or lacks playable dragon cards they want or can use. When all players pass, the round ends.
After the fourth round, players tally their points from dragon cards, activated abilities, eggs, resources, and other elements. The player with the most points wins.
