Price Increase for Board Games
Prices held steady for a long time, but nothing lasts forever. Amid war, rising logistics costs, and pricier materials, publishers are forced to raise board game prices. Throughout August, expect increases from 50 to 200 UAH. Some games, like "Zombicide" and "Blood Rage", have already gone up by 200 UAH. Others, such as the "Between Us" series, will rise by 50 UAH per box starting Monday. Some are still in the pipeline but will definitely increase by September.
Tax Hikes by Year’s End
But Gallu the Rooster looks further ahead and predicts that by the end of 2024, prices for board games, accessories, and possibly even shipping (Nova Poshta, Ukrposhta, etc.) could climb higher still. This is due to anticipated tax increases for sole proprietors on the simplified tax system—a category most publishers and stores fall into. While the law hasn’t been passed or even submitted to the Verkhovna Rada yet, media trends suggest it’s likely to be adopted by year’s end, unfortunately. This will add roughly 50-100 UAH to the cost of games, not accounting for potential shipping cost hikes from postal operators.
