Do you like "The Walking Dead"? Are you intrigued by the zombie apocalypse—a fantastical scenario of global catastrophe where most of the world's population has turned into the living dead? Familiar with the works of George Romero, and does "Evil Dead" give you pleasant chills? Then this game is for you, and you won’t find a better option!
About the Game
"Zombicide: 2nd Edition" is a board game set in a zombie apocalypse for 1-6 players, featuring updated materials and improved rules. As before, you’ll have to survive in harsh conditions, regardless of your desires, and fight against hordes of the living dead. Each game mission offers its own storyline, objectives, and special rules. The game features four types of zombies: Walker, Fatty, Runner, and Abomination, whose actions are controlled by the game through cards. The second edition introduces several new features that simplify gameplay: faster setup, experience points replaced by adrenaline points, no more need to combine multiple cards to assemble weapons, expanded dark zone rules, additional game modes, and new abilities.
Gameplay
Players choose one of the 25 missions and set up the game board with its tokens and miniatures. All players form a team that acts against the game itself. Survivors are divided into adults and children, each with different health stats and game boards. Players control their characters, deciding where to go, choosing weapons, when to fight, and when to run. The game is divided into different phases. In the "Player Phase," participants activate survivors, moving them across the board and completing various tasks. In the "Zombie Phase," the undead activate and attack any nearby survivors. In the "End Phase," the turn transitions and noise tokens are removed. Combat is resolved using dice rolls.
Who Wins?
As mentioned, "Zombicide: 2nd Edition" offers a cooperative gameplay experience, meaning that all players share the same objectives. Therefore, you’ll savor victory together and endure the bitterness of defeat as a team, with the outcome depending on the collective actions of all players. The game is won once the players fulfill all mission objectives. However, defeat is possible, for example, if even one survivor is killed or if the planned mission becomes impossible. You’re free to discuss and plan every action, but the final decision always rests with the individual player, so you’ll need to take some risks and remember to look out for your teammates.
