A massive moon loomed eerily over the city. Gripped by doubt, Rita froze in the middle of the street under the gaze of countless stars. The longer she stood there, peering into the celestial vault, the more she felt drawn into the endless abyss of the cosmos. With effort, Rita tore her eyes from that dreadful moon and the alluring dark sky, turning her gaze to the mansion sprawled atop the hill.
About the Board Game "Mansions of Madness"
This is a cooperative game blending detective and horror genres, inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Players take on the roles of investigators unraveling the sinister secrets of ominous mansions. Only seamless teamwork can overcome the challenges and obstacles crafted by the game’s companion app.
Gameplay Overview
"Mansions of Madness" unfolds over a series of rounds, each consisting of two phases played in this order:
- Investigator Phase: Investigators move across the board, explore rooms, and battle monsters.
- Mythos Phase: The app dictates monster actions and mythos effects, which may spawn monsters or create new hurdles for the investigators.
After the Mythos Phase, a new round begins with the Investigator Phase. The game continues until the players either triumph or fall to defeat.

We recommend watching the video rules in the “Video” section and, if desired, exploring the detailed PDF rules in the “Files” section.
One Last Note
Among all games inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s works, "Mansions of Madness" (Second Edition) is deemed the most atmospheric. Note that the game requires a digital app, which acts as the Keeper and streamlines play. Don’t let that deter app-averse players—Gallu the Rooster assures you the designers nailed a perfect fusion of cardboard and modern tech.
