The legendary strategic board game of player interaction featuring 51 unique alien races. Now available in Ukrainian for the first time!
It would be strange to think that in the infinite universe, only the tiny Earth harbors the treasure of life. Equally strange would be the assumption that alien civilizations lack the desire to expand and strengthen their territories.
What is this game about?
This game is about a massive galactic struggle for influence, where several distinct civilizations compete to establish themselves on foreign territories by any means necessary, from straightforward military conquest to subtle diplomacy, bluffing, or the sudden intervention of previously unseen technologies.
With 51 unique races, it's clear that their special abilities vary in complexity. Alien sheets are marked with special indicators to signal how challenging it is to play with each race. Beyond the immense replayability offered by the 51 alien sheets, the game set is expanded with everything needed for an advanced game. This includes flare cards and technology cards, which can be integrated into the game on a modular basis, either separately or all together.
Gameplay
In Cosmic Encounter, players establish colonies on other players' planets. A colony consists of one or more of the player's ships on a single planet.
On their turn, a player initiates an encounter. An encounter is an interaction between two or more players attempting to create or defend a colony. The player initiating the turn is called the attacker, while the player opposing them is the defender.
In addition to encounter cards, players may have artifact cards with powerful, one-time effects, or reinforcement cards that provide a bonus to the combat total, which can be added to the skirmish after the main cards are revealed.
Cosmic Encounter is a game that has stood the test of time. Its first edition was released in 1977 (!), and it quickly spawned expansions. The publishing rights changed hands several times over the years, leading to re-releases in 1986, 1991, 2000, and 2008.
