In "Call to Adventure: Epic Origins," players team up to battle a powerful enemy. Each player crafts their own character’s story, filled with challenges and feats, triumphs and tragedies. Develop your character, face trials, and join forces with others to defeat the villain and claim victory!
Description of Call to Adventure: Epic Origins Board Game
At the start of the game, players choose a villain they’ll face as a united team. Throughout the game, you can compete with other players, but always be ready to unite against the common foe. If the main villain survives, all players lose. However, if the players collectively defeat the enemy, the winner is the one with the most fate points!
Create Your Hero!
At the beginning of the game, each player selects four character cards: heritage, origin, class, and destiny. These cards form the foundation of the story you’ll build on your character board. Players place history cards—earned with points and ability symbols—beneath their character cards. Abilities strengthen your hero for upcoming trials. Choose each symbol wisely, though, as the whims of fate can be unpredictable.
As you face trials, you develop your character. Every character starts with two ability runes from their origin card. During a trial, you roll three core runes, plus any ability runes shown on the trial card if you have matching symbols on your character or history cards. All trials follow the same process: the player uses all applicable abilities and card effects gained during the game, then rolls the corresponding runes.
Villains
To defeat the villain, players must fight side by side, but only one can win! Throughout the game, each character earns triumph points for heroic deeds, tragedy points for dark choices, and experience tokens for failed trials. At the end, players add these values together to determine their total fate points.
To maximize fate points, aim to meet the conditions on your destiny card, play hero and antihero cards, and collect matching story symbols. If the players together defeat the main villain, the player with the most fate points wins. If they fail, everyone loses.
These are the core principles of the game.
