"Kelp: Brilliant Behaviours" is an expansion to the duel game "Kelp: Shark vs Octopus", consisting of 6 mini-expansions, each adding a new mechanic to the game. Three are for the shark and three for the octopus, though some can benefit both opponents.

Even More Variety

All expansions can be added to the game together or combined and introduced separately. They can be used to simplify the game for newcomers or to challenge yourself by introducing new strategies.

Let’s take a closer look at each mini-expansion:

Jellyfish

When the octopus player draws cards, they may move the jellyfish to any empty current space around the central zone. When the octopus swaps blocks in zones adjacent to the jellyfish, the cost of the played card is reduced by 1. The shark can use the jellyfish as a current but spends more energy searching near it.

Rocks

During the "Search/Attack" phase, the shark can place a rock token in the current zone. Rock tokens change the zone’s value to 5+ and apply these effects: traps don’t work, and blocks always remain revealed.

Coconut

Whenever the octopus shuffles blocks, you may place a coconut token on one of them, forcing the shark to spend more dice on searching.

Hideouts

When the octopus moves the shark to a hideout, 4 alternate growth tiles replace the base ones. Now, the shark must be in the corresponding hideout during this step to grow and gain a skill.

Sea Urchins

After swapping 2 blocks, you may place a sea urchin in an empty current space or move it to a connected space. If the shark player wants to swim past a sea urchin, they must place a current die with a value of 5 or 6 on the space directly before it, then use that die to swim across both spaces.

Reflexes

Adds 3 new dice and replaces one of the base box’s growth tiles, giving the shark more tactical flexibility.
