In 122 AD, Roman Emperor Hadrian Augustus ordered the construction of a wall to separate the lands of the warlike Picts in the north from the rest of Britannia, showcasing Rome’s might. This monumental structure stretched 117 kilometers from west to east, coast to coast.
The Game Hadrian’s Wall
In “Hadrian’s Wall,” you take on the role of a Roman general. Over 6 years (rounds), you’ll build a fort, reinforce the wall, manage defenses, and create conditions to attract citizens—all while upholding the Roman Empire’s honor and fending off assaults from the fierce Picts. You’ll juggle these tasks simultaneously, filling in boxes on your personal player sheets.
The player who earns the most glory and discipline, displays valor and piety, and avoids disgrace will prove to the emperor that they are the model Roman citizen, worthy of becoming a legion’s legate!
