After being expelled from school, the zombies set up a base in the sewers and are now wreaking havoc across the city! The time for hiding is over... You must find four ingredients to concoct an antidote that will turn the zombies back into their normal human selves!
"Zombie Teenz Evolution" is a game by Annick Lobet with illustrations by NIKAO. It’s the sequel to the world’s best children’s board game "Zombie Kidz Evolution", according to "Board Game Geek." However, you can play either game without having played the other first. This is a special game because it evolves and becomes more exciting with each session based on your achievements!
Description of Zombie Teenz Evolution Board Game
This is a cooperative game where all players work together to fight the zombies, winning or losing as a team! To win, you need to deliver 4 ingredient crates to the school before the zombies capture 4 buildings in the city. Throughout the campaign, you’ll unlock evolution envelopes containing secret components. These envelopes gradually transform the game, introducing achievement stickers, new hero abilities, and tougher enemies.
Gameplay
From 2 to 4 players take turns clockwise, performing actions in a set order:
Zombie Activation
At the start of your turn, roll the die. Depending on the symbol rolled, specific actions are triggered. For example, if you roll a "?", draw an event card and apply its effects.
Colored faces indicate which color zombie to place on the matching sewer grate space. If that zombie horde is already on the board, move it one space along the tracks.
When a zombie horde enters a building space, it captures that building, and a captured building tile of the matching color is placed on that space. If zombies are already in a captured building or must move to one, they immediately bounce to the next building clockwise until they land on an uncaptured one, taking it over.
If 4 buildings are captured, the game ends, and all players lose!
Hero Actions
During their turn, each hero can perform 2 actions from 3 available options. You can also repeat the same action twice:
- Move your hero to an adjacent space.
- Attack a zombie horde on the same space as your hero, removing its tile from the board and placing it at the end of the row beside the board.
- Move an ingredient crate from your hero to another hero on an adjacent space. This way, you can take crates from other heroes or pass them along.
Game End and Evolution
All players win if all 4 ingredient crates are placed on the school space. After each completed game—win or lose—place a "brain" sticker on the progress track at the back of the rulebook, filling the first empty slot on the left. If you successfully complete a mission, mark it as done and add 2 "trophy" stickers.
When you place a sticker on a numbered slot on the progress track, you can open the evolution envelope matching that number. Each time you open an envelope, you’ll discover exciting surprises, new game components, and additional rules.
We recommend checking out the video rules in the "Video" section and, if desired, exploring the detailed rules with illustrations in PDF format in the "Files" section.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for an engaging board game for kids with simple rules and zero conflict in gameplay, "Zombie Teenz Evolution" is just what you need!
The game also includes special simplified rules and rules for two players. Thanks to these easier rules, Gallu the Rooster recommends this adventure for kids as young as 6.
The zombies in this game aren’t scary at all! They’re more clumsy and funny than frightening.
