Monopoly is an incredibly popular game worldwide. It’s a fantastic way to spend an evening at home with family and friends, immersed in an engaging activity. "Monopoly" hones communication skills, teaches rule-following, fosters patience, sharpens focus, and strengthens family bonds.
The game introduces the basics of Smithsonian economics and helps players realize that money is just a tool to achieve goals. Perhaps its most vital psychological lesson is understanding that money shouldn’t be hoarded—it should be boldly invested. This principle, learned through "Monopoly," has nurtured an entire generation of successful entrepreneurs.
How to Play "Monopoly"?
Per the rules, players buy and sell properties, build houses and hotels, collect rent, and pay taxes. Their ultimate aim is to drive opponents into bankruptcy and become the sole owner of everything on the board. Luck plays a role, of course, since turns begin with a dice roll. Yet, as the game unfolds, players make decisions using tactical and logical thinking.
Start by placing tokens on “Go” and move them around the board based on the dice roll. If a player lands on an unowned property, they can buy it. Otherwise, it may go to auction, sold to the highest bidder. Property owners can charge rent to anyone landing on their spaces.
We recommend watching the video rules in the “Video” section and, if desired, exploring the illustrated PDF rules in more detail in the “Files” section.
One Last Note
This game isn’t just the first of its kind—it’s the most successful on the market. Gallu the Rooster is certain that "Monopoly" delights kids and adults alike, from students to financial directors of major companies. Over 500,000,000 people have played "Monopoly," roughly 8% of the planet’s population!
